Role Overview:

 

To provide efficient and high quality income tax solutions and services which meet the requirements of the business and are within appropriate levels of risk control and regulatory compliance.

           

Responsibilities

 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation and review all income tax returns and other income tax reporting documents, as well as applicable operational returns, for all businesses within the North American Division. This includes the completion of income tax estimates and the establishment of accurate income tax provisions.
  • Ensure that the relevant financial information, interpretation, analysis and support are provided in a timely manner.
  • Understand the products and services provided to customers, and the relevant tax implications.
  • Interpret external market developments, statutory regulations and internal Group requirements, ensuring effective policies and procedures are developed to meet these needs and to support the achievement of business unit objectives.
  • Lead projects affecting own function, defining plans and resource requirements and ensuring results are achieved within the required time, cost and quality parameters.
  • Participate in projects for the relevant business divisions, evaluating financial costs and benefits. Recommending solutions which meet business goals whilst minimising the Bank’s tax risks.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with other finance units, providing input to Group discussions and decisions and identifying / implementing initiatives to enhance business performance.
  • Responsible for knowing, understanding, and aligning with all Bank and governmental rules and regulations that pertain to their job (details of such can be obtained from the supervisor and/or Local Compliance Dept).
  • Responsible for reporting to the Chief Risk Officer or to the Head of Compliance any non-compliance with LBCM or governmental rules or regulations that may come to the employee's attention in the course of their employment.

 

Qualifications

 

Education and Experience Required:

  • BS or BA Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Advanced degree or equivalent experience in Taxation a plus
  • Certified Public Accountant
  • Minimum 7+ years of active experience with Federal, state and local income tax compliance with an emphasis on the US tax rules that apply to US branches of foreign banks
  • Intermediate knowledge with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Experience with leading accounting firm or financial institution a plus
  • Experience with OneSource or similar tax software
  • Experience with Bloomberg BNA or similar research applications
  • Work independently and take ownership, capable and willing to learn
  • Strong initiative and self-motivation, with leadership skills
  • Be responsible for gaining up-to-date relevant income tax technical knowledge required for the role

Salary Range: $140,000 - $160,000
